I´m from México, your bike is registered here or has foreighn plates? It won´t really matter, the taxes you´ll have to pay depends on how straight you want to go. You can sell it as it is and if it´s between particulars you won´t have to pay a dime.
If the bike is registered as "importación temporal" you might have some troubles or better said the buyer.
If you can sell it as it is and let the buyer make the paperwork and legalization.
You can call any "Agente Aduanal" and they will give you a better option, if you want I´ll be glad to help you with this.

Thanks Grant
The bike is US plated .
When i bought it in panama i needed to go out of panama in 3 month in order to not pay the tax
Do you know if i sell it to some one traveling out of mexico if he will need to pay the tax?
Du you know how much is the tax for such a bike if i want to import it to mexico?
Thanks for replaying
Nir

If the bike is in México it would be eassier if you sell it as it is, I´m asumming that the bike is under temporary import, the buyer would have to pay for regime change.

For you to make the paperwork and permanent import, you´ll have to pay IVA+Import Tax, I know the Import tax is not much cause it´s platted in the US, and if it´s a used bike will go lower. IVA would be 15% for shure.
If the bike.

If you want I can help you, since I´m mexican it should be easier. I´m in Mexico City so if you´re arrownd contact me via email and will gladly help.

Leaving the country won't be a problem but coming back in will. The next time you try to come in it will appear that your bike never left and you won't be allowed in. This has been discussed in length on Adventure Riders where people don't hand in the temporary import papers when they leave. I think you get charged 300 dllrs on your credit card once the permit runs out. As you are so close to the States why not sell it there?

Hahahaha, this is what happens with too many advriders/hubbers using the same computer. Hey Nir, when you accidentally post from my account make sure that you never, ever use "u" in a sentence! :smartass:

Hi guys

I will sell my Honda Transalp to an American who wants to leave the country to, back to Chile. So, I will have to do 3 things probably:
1. dutch papers on his name
2. my temporary import paper should be on his name, bc he wants to leave the country as well
3. if my passport is stamped, get it signed by customs or something so I can get out of the country (I will fly away from Mexico City).
4. see how I can get the deposit back (maybe blocking my credit card or something)

I want to sell my bike in Puerto Escondido. Any ideas what are good cities to sell? Any tips? Would be grateful!

Cheers and a lot of thanks for the comments!

Ben
