Safe place to store bike in Honduras

Hi,

I'm currently in Guatemala and want to go for diving courses in Roatan island Honduras.

Anybody know a safe place to store two bikes in Honduras for a few days?

Thanks,

Patrick

If you know who your diving with ask them they probable have a mainland side dive/boat shed location they can let you park in with good security! I parked my bike in moto shops sometimes for a few days when I went on short excursions. If you have anything that needs done like get your bikes oil changed or a tire changed they probable will not charge you anything for leaving it there for a few days. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi Patrick.
It is quite easy to take the bike to Roatan with you. We were diving in Utila and took the bikes with us.
But if you really want to leave your bike in La Ceiba (assuming that youll leave to Roatan from here), they have a storage there where the boats leave. Just ask them.
Or you can find a hotel you trust and they will look after it while you are gonne.
They were offering that to us in Rotterdam beach hotel in La Ceiba.
Take care and ride safe. And enjoy the diving. It is awesome.

I know this is a bit late, but if there are any others looking to do this, you *can* leave your bike at the port in La Cieba. However if you are intending to be on the islands for more than 10 days, it is cheaper and *much* safer to take it with you. Alternatively, Heidi at hotel Rotterdam in La Cieba (She runs the cafe next door) regularly puts bikes in her garage for people.

.. and if you're passing, I'm on an extended hiatus from my trip, and am currently working on Utila. There's another guy like me here who is a good bike mechanic and knows the KLR backwards. (he's just rebuit a shock for another biker who came past)

Stop by and say hello. I can be contacted by emailing though the site, or stop into Altons. I seem to be there all the time at the moment!

Well there are many places and it depends on how long you are staying. I have 2 KLR sitting in a friends private house for 4 months til we return...safe and secure.

If it is only a few days and you are hanging near West End, I'd check with Capt Van's cycle rentals...they were biker friendly and were willing to help out. Or I would check with the ever resourceful KArl (The submarine guy) Stanley in Half Moon Bay...he seems to be able to pull a rabbit from a hat. Or Lady Rosita at Crystil Cabins...a trustworthy local.

good travels.....

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
