Possible to get a Motorcycle lilcense in Mexico?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a motorcycle license in Mexico. And also if it is valid for riding in South America?

I have a motorcycle Learner's Permit from Australia which allows me to ride in Australia only for 3 months until i am eligible for a full license. I also have a car drivers license. I just bought a KLR650 in the US and trying to gauge how possible it is to take it into Mexico and get a motorcycle license there which will hopefully mean i'm ok to ride South America as well.

At this point I have a Mexican utilities bill sent to me by someone in Mexico which I'm told is the key to getting a mototrcycle license there. And I may need to take a test with a translator at my side.

If not, i may have to either sell the bike and just travel by bus or store it in the US, travel South America until December then fly back to Australia for a week just to get my full license... which will cost maybe $2000!! Damn.

Any help grately appreciated.

The chances of you getting a license without having a valid FM 2 or FM 3 document are zero.
The utility bill can be in anyones name but the address must match your valid FM 2 or FM 3 document.
Get the FM 3 (you likely won't qualify for an FM 2) and then get your license.
Unless you can bribe your way through it but that is very unlikely.
You can buy a fake one for any state when in Mexico City along with a Rolex that will last 2 days.
Why do you want a Mexican bike license? The only test will likely be a computer question test with 10 scenarios about filling a bus with fuel or some other such nonsense.
There will be no road test and the tester might help you with the questions if you are polite.
The FM 3 if you can do it without a lawyer or outside help will cost you about $200 US and much more if you hire a lawyer.
The bike license will likely cost you upwards of $60 US.
You will be looking at something in the neighborhood of $400 to $500 to go through all the shenanigans and bureaucracy if you are lucky.

You can get a FM3 for $120. at a Mexican Counsolate in the U.S. Much easier than in Mexico. You do need proof that you intend to reside in Mexico (rental agreement) along with 3 mos. bank statements.

I think your license w/o motorcycle endorsement will work. I'm not sure anyone would know how to identify a MC endorsement.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
