Parking the bike long term in Central America?

Hola peoples,

Anyone have any suggestions for parking the bike long term in Central America?

I'm currently on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and plan to cross into Belize in 2 or 3 weeks and travel around Central America on my way south to TDF. I've been on the road for 8 months but at some point I'm going to need to fly home for 2-4 months and would like to park my bike somewhere for that time and continue the trip south in late September or early October. Any suggestions?

Muchos Gracias a todos,
Saludos,

Dealer

Hi

Your best bet might be to try a motorcycle dealer.

If you have a service done with them they might be happy for you to leave your bike there for a while, I've heard of other people doing the same.

Have covered space in my bodega on Utila Honduras ( It is an island in the north of Honduras, so it can't get saver!!) It is the SCUBA mekka of the world, freight-boat cost you about $ 25.00 one way
I think they give you 3 months with foreign plates upon entry and as far remember no extension

Thanks Scooper and Guaterider. Both options sound great. I'll keep in touch as I get closer to figuring out plans.

Hey Guateride and Scooper,

After some long consideration and figuring out legistics, I've decided my best option is to park my bike in Cancun and fly back this week before resuming my trip in Sept/Oct. The vehicle permits and flights are more expensive and complicated and I've got until Oct.14th on my Mexican vehicle permit.

When I continue my trip south in the fall, I'll be heading your ways and would love to meet up if you guys are around.

cheers,

Long term parking in David/Panama

Hola Duncan
We had our BMW/GSA stored in the gvt. bond in David near the airport for 6 months. The price was $ 320.-- for the six month. In Panama they will take
roughly $ 800 for the same period. When you come back to fetch the bike, they will give you another 3 month permit.
Take care Henrik

Hi I'm currently in playa del carmen mexico atm.
But considering ride thru to Guatemala.
May need to store the bike for month or two.
How long is the bike allowed in Guatemala for?
Is it the same allowance as mexico for 6 months?
Thanks in advance for any leads or info.

Cheers. Dave.

Hi mint Julep,

You will actually get 3 months when you enter Guatemala, if you need a place to park your bike for 1-2 months, I can help you with this too. Just get in touch with me.

Drive safe

David
