New Tyres in Costa Rica.

I was wondering if anybody knows a decent place in Costa Rica to get tyres changed? We've done about 6000 miles from Los Angeles to Honduras, and reckon there's 1000 miles or so left in them.

So if anybody knows a place to lay our hands on some 21" and 17" enduro tyres (Pirelli mt61/Metzler Enduro etc.) then please let me know, else I suspect I'll be riding round and round San Jose, Sweating and bouncing from truck to truck

Thanks.

Hi Guys,
In San Jose go no further than the Breymann Motorcycle shop. You find his address and tel.no. in the phone book. It's not easy to find. You can hire a taxi and ask him to be your guide. Pay him the fare, or course. Breymann has a wide choice of enduro tires. If he doesn't have one you like in stock, he can get it for you elsewhere. He's been in business a long time. Affordable tyres (can you believe it!) in costa rica

While wandering around San Hose looking for a curry restaurant (which turned out to be on the other side of the city!) we came across Autoruespuestos Cheng.

Although primarily a car parts outlet the shop is divided neatly in two for both cars and bikes. We managed to pick up a couple of rear Pirelli MT60s (130-80 17") for only £68 each, including 10% off for buying two!

We had previously heard of horror stories of $200-$300 a tyre, in Panama City we recently met a Swiss rider who spent a whopping $800 on two heidenau k60 in Costa Rica! Ouch!

Anyway, its worth giving these guys a try they looked well stocked with brake pads, filters, bits bobs and having 4 stores across the city meant one of their outlets probably has the missing item you are looking for.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
