Mexico sight tips
 

currently in Guadalajara leaving to go south to as far as Huatalco, then up to Mazatlan and accross to Baja and up through San Diego and over to Tucson. any tips on places and trips not to be missed?

The Michoacan coastline is the prettiest along Hwy 200, and the least developed.
I enjoyed Pto Escondido, stayed at Rockaways, bikinis, etc.
Old Mazatlan is much more of a real town than the touristy Gold Zone.
La Cruceceta, a nice town by Huatulco, has reasonable hotels on the centro zocalo.

Bahia de Conception is the star of Baja, IMO. The Hacienda in Mulege is $20us.

Scorpion Bay at San Juanico (Pacific Coast) is a great place to camp with spectacular sunrises.

There are many nice dirt routes...if you're interested?

Hey Steve, off topic, but are you on a 1200GS? I saw one in Oaxaca about a week ago with ALB plates parked next to the Zocalo. Have a safe trip, i think the other posts will answer your question.

If you look through the thread I began asking about Northern Mexican sights to visit, BMBaxter, gaspipe, and Mr. Ron who also responded to your question gave me good advice about places to visit. (I live in Yuma, AZ along Interstate 8 near the US/Mexican border). gaspipe and Mr. Ron gave me suggestions for places near Douglas which is south of Tucson, and BMBaxter gave me suggestions for places near where I live, as well as south of Mexicali which is near where you are coming up through. I figured, you could possibly take in some of the places on your way north that he suggested to me, and then head west to Baja and out thru San Diego, follow the 8 east to Tucson, and south back into Mexico at Douglas. Actually, when you get to Yuma you might want to head north on 95 (take the 95 on the Arizona side as it is a much easier and more scenic ride) along the Colorado River to Lake Havasu and back down. This would make for a nice ride detour on your way east. But heed my warning on the snowbirds with their 5th wheel trailers and motorhomes up and down the 95!
