Mexico; Leave Texas Nov 20 towards Belize

Anyone want to come along? I am driving a KLR650, I am flexible as to which way to go, but currently leaning towards Eagle Pass. I would like to take about a week to get to Belize.

I have motorcycled around Baja last year, but since there is a Formula 1 car race to watch in Austin Texas on Nov 18, I thought this would be fitting and keep heading south afterwards.

Cheers

I didn't realize Formula 1 was in Austin, very cool!

If you make it further south, stop in Antigua, Guatemala (definitely a popular spot to relax a few days) and visit us in Moto Cafe. Good to share some stories with fellow motorcyclists, join us for a ride, or just have a beer!

Always great to meet other riders.

Safe travels!

Send me a PM with your email address.
I can send you a PDF ride guide I just finished that will give you some good routing ideas and will make the best case against riding the Mex #180 coast highway.

Klred, sounds like you've made the trip before. I'll be following at the end of the month along the Pacific Coast to Guatemala.

Do you know of any restaurant or fast food chains in Mexico that have wifi? I want to be able to check in to email, etc., along the route.

You can find free wi-fi at most MacDonalds restaurants and also the Italian Coffee chain of restaurants. Just get into a commercial area and you will likely find a signal or two that is open and ready to use. Some municipalities offer limited wi-fi in the area of the city halls (palacio municipal) near the zocalo (town square).
If in doubt, ask a kid at a Pemex, they usually have it well scoped out.

I'll do that. It seems I need one more posts before I am able to send a PM. It's an anti-spam measure.
