Mexico and Central America Looking for others

Im riding from Oklahoma thru Texas, Mexico and Central America and then into South America starting in October. This is my first trip and it would be great to ride with someone that knows Spanish and the procedures at the border crossings.

I'm riding a Shadow 750 and plan to stay on the pavement whereever possible. I also want to camp and couch surf to keep expenses down. If anyone is going that way and want to hook up for a day or two or for all thru Central AM it would be great.

If you want to share the road for a way then contact me. 918-261-5932 text or daledenwalt@hotmail.com

We can probably stay with us if come through Mexico City. I normally meet people just outside the city and guide them in.

Airdale....I'm still headed south from Ontario on the 8th of October with the route planned to camp overnight and then cross at Los Ebanos around the 14th/15th on the first ferry over to Cd. Gustavo Diaz Ordaz.
Will keep an eye out for you. Look for a 99' R1100GS.
Safe Ride !
G.

The Five Haciendas route is only 2 hours of really nice riding to the west. It is a good route, but getting there is a really fun part of the ride. There are some very significant ruins (7 easily reached sites) between Tampico and Veracruz. The big ones are El Tajin in Papantla, also La Cantona not far from Perote but in the state of Puebla, there is also Cempoala, and the fantastic site at Quiahuiztlan up the little mountain and across the highway from the beach where Cortez burned the ships and met the Totonacs. That site is one that most people miss entirely, even though they are riding right past it on the coast highway Mex #180. One of the easiest sites to reach, and one of the most underrated but very significant in the history of Mexico!

AirDale,

Good trade, the KLR is much better suited for the America's ride. I think I may have posted this in ADV, but just in case:

If you make it to Antigua, Guatemala (definitely a popular spot to relax a few days), be sure to come by Moto Cafe and share some stories with fellow motorcyclists, join us for a ride, or just have a !

Always great to meet ADV'rs.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
