looking for a TIG welder in Merida
 

Holla!

Surprise surprise, after 25,000km across Canada the US and Mexico, my KTM 640 adventure has managed to vibrate/eat through a few parts that are aluminum.

I'm now in Merida, Yucatan, and wondering if anyone by any chance would know of a shop that can weld aluminum?

Can't help with an address but surely they are available for all the industry. Yellow pages under "SOLDADURA , talleres" ?
Find the bike dealerships and ask or if you see one of the PEMEX marked
pickup trucks ask where they get their quality welding done. One of these might
lead you to a Pemex maintenance shop with TIG

Dont know of anyone specific in Merida, but if you might be able to find one in the industrial area at the airport, there will be Aerospace fabricators with aluminum welding gear.

All kidding aside, a visit to a welding supply store will lead you to the best aluminum welder in the area. Practice your Spanish by asking for, "El tipo mas chingon con el TIG". They don't do a lot of Pemex fabrication in Merida, you will find that in Ciudad del Carmen (no, not Playa del Carmen, but Ciudad del Carmen in Campeche), you might have passed it on your way to where you are. You might find the welding supply center easily, Merida has a couple of astilleros (shipyards) a little ways outside on the coast.
Shipyards have some very good welders. Also, any good marine repair center should have someone very good with the TIG set up.
Garage door companies also do a lot of that work in their fabrication areas.

and ask if they can help you out with a recommendation. They carry TIG gear, if you don't speak Spanish, get someone to make the call for you. Yucatecos are friendly people, even if they have large square heads LOL!

sorry meant aeronautical, (long day) there is always need for minor aluminum welding and fabrication at any airport however small and they are normally the best around - more chance at a bigger airport obviously and yes marine welders too might be an option
