Post List Your Moto Insurance Cost Here

It might be helpful if we share our insurance quotes for Mexico and Central American countries so we can keep abreast of the best deals.

If anyone knows of a company that writes a single multi-country policy for Mexico and the Central American countries offer it.

I checked online quotes at www.mexpro.com which writes policies for the a few companies in Mexico (thanks, Saralou). It gives you quotes on those that fit your parameters.

This image shows my quote for the minimum requirements for 180 days, six months and 1 year for the companies offering it through Mexpro. Note the 6 month quote is 18% higher than the 180 day ABA Seguros quote of $108.18 ?? I also tried a 7 day policy ($40.87) and a 30 day policy ($113.16), which was more than the 180 day one. It pays to play around with the terms.

We paid $124.00 each for our DR650s, 3rd party only for 180 days.

This was current at November 2012.

The rip off from a monopoly

I pay $110 a month for a 2009 F800 gs from the only option we have in Bristish columbia, Canada, with ICBC ( Insurance Corporation of British Columbia)
Pretty harsh considering that I have the highest level of deductions available of the best records allowed by the way.
I met a guy from Chicago area last summer during my travels who had a brand new 2012 F 800 gs and totally shocked me when he told me that he paying $6/mths, yes $6, I know, I made him repeat three times trying to see where he was saving from, but he was insured with very similar conditions, maybe the biggest difference was that he was 55 years old and I'm 43.....

Given that this thread resides in the Central America and Mexico branch, I'm thinking maybe the OP wasn't looking for information about BC, Chicago, or Germany.

Cheapest policies I've had in Mexico were around a hundred US dollars, purchased on line. Showing up at a border without insurance basically means you're agreeing to pay whatever is available there, which is often more expensive. It's all well and good to look at different durations, but I've had the same experience as described above: insurance costs about the same whether for one month or six.

I should have added that we could pretty much only buy a minimum for 6 months, do not know how others have found it.

We still have our full cover as well to cover us, the Mex insurance is purely 3rd party to cover the Mexicans who don't have insurance!!!.

See the original post. If you go to the online quote at www.mexpro.com you will be able to vary the time from a few days to a year. You will see a matrix of which companies offer which term lengths.
