leaving a bike in central/ south america?

I get this from the boards but let me get this straight. I can leave my bike in Costa Rica because they don't stamp "bike" on the passport and in Argentina for 8 months. Otherwise, I cannot leave a bike anywhere between LA and Argentina? How long is it possible to leave your bike in Costa Rica? Thanks in Advance. -Mark

You can leave your bike 3 month in Costa Rica, 3 month in Colombia, 3month in Brasil if you do not get papers on the boarder like we did than even longer, 8 month in Argentina! The other countrys i donĀ“t remember yet, but i will be back in Brasil in 2 weeks again! Maybe i can find out some more for you!

Good Luck Appie!

storing bike in Costa Rica

I have two KLR's in Chile. I'm from US. Just beginning plans to ride in 30 days as far north as possible. I've learned from past investigations that its possible to leave a moto in Costa Rica indefinately if you store it in a goverment bonded warehouse. I hve some information on the subject including warehouse names that are close to the airport in San Jose if anyone is interested. My bikes are in Temuco CHile(S of Santiago) and I'd like to bring them up to Equador and keep them there for 11 months, return and ride to Texas in another 30 day trip. Does anyone know how to store a bike in Equador legally for 11 months?

Costa Rica Storage

Regarding storage in Costa Rica. Do a web search for a goverment bonded warehouse in San Jose named Agencia Kabaat They respond via emails and also have english speaking agents. They were good about giving prices etc. I have not used them but they seemed reputable and knew what they were doing.
You can also do a search for other information on importing by doing a search Costa Rica Aduana. The infor I have from both sites is not current (2 years...) so best if you do your own searches. Good luck. Write me a personal email if questions. You can also just do a search for goverment bonded warehouse Costa Rica and you'll get lots of info............
