el salvador insurance

hello
we are 2 frenchs who ride in central america with a 1200 GS adv
we have a question for Salvador
Is motocycle insurance mandatory ?

When I was there in 2010 it was not mandatory.

Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras is no Liability insurance needed , not asked for, or even available in reasonable time, just drive defensive, because once in an accident, regardless of guilt and if there are injured people, you and the bike go jail till all is sorted out by a judge ( Money and time)

We crossed from Guatemala to El Salvador and no insurance was requested at the border. To my recollection, we didn't pay any entry fee's either.

Not required here in ES, Nicaragua does require insurance, can be issued at borders for $12
