Shipping Bike

I used Girag Air Cargo. It is located on the other side of Int'l De Tocumen Airport in Panama City. If you use them, you will be required to pay cash only. They do not accept credit cards or checks so be prepared. I was not prepared and it turned out to be a big hassle with taxi fare into the city and back, to find a bank that would honor my Mastercard to get cash.

Girag Air Cargo
Girag S.A. Nit. 890-308-447-1
Avenida el Dorado No.116-87 Bodega 04 Modulo 02
Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado Bogota, Colombia

I stayed at the:

Riande Aeropuerto Hotel
Telephone 290-3333
Fax 290-3017

The Riande was the closest place I could find to the airport.

Hope this helps and I hope you have a great trip.

Its cheaper to use Copa. They do not require you build an expensive crate, you can strap the bike directly on to an airline pallet. Leave a bit of fuel, oil and air in tires, so you can ride of in either Bogota, Medellin or Cali.

Flight from Panama to Cali are every Wednesday evening, Bogota I think are on Thursdays, not sure about Medellin, but should be once a week as well. I can help with customs and airline in Cali a I live here.

The Copa office is same place as Girag in the cargo terminal down the road from the passenger terminal in Panama City.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
