Guate city is not that bad, if you go in on a Sunday it is quiet.

Try contacting Antonio at Tarmoto aalday@tarmoto.com

Tarmoto Guatemala. Distribuidor Autorizado de Aprilia, Moto GUzzi y Vespa

He is helpful and responds quickly to emails.

It is in Zona 10, walking distance from the Quetzelroo hostal Quetzalroo

If you are in Antigua (you may have already passed thru'), if not, there is a parts shop directly across from the bus terminal, not that far of a walk. I forget the name. They stock bike parts as well. I managed to pick up 2 x rear MT60's here. There is also a Yamaha dealership, 2 blocks away. I forget the owners name, but he owns several shops around Guatemala and can get whatever you need in.

You're not looking for anything exotic, by your description. You could just go to the big, bad city Managua....but otherwise there are shops in Granada, and they can order from Managua if you don't find exactly what you want in stock. Probably the same in Leon, although I didn't need anything there.

Sounds like you're going north.....? If you don't like hanging in the big capital cities, parts and repairs are remarkably easy in Antigua. Don't know about Tegucigalpa, but spending time there finding out would be less appealing. Otherwise, lots is available throughout Costa Rica.

Hope that helps.

hola amigos
thanks for the advice.it seems nicaragua is a really bad place to get any decent tires, otherwise great country
.i went to several places and there seems to be only china junk on offer otherwise they have to order from costa rica or usa.
in leon i found a 110/90-17" for 80€ and still thinking to buy or not to buy.
propably will try guatemala then.
suerte y salud

I'm surprised. I found a 120/80-17 in Granada without any effort. It wasn't the exact tire I wanted, and they told me if I wanted to wait a couple of days they could get others from Managua easily.

If you can wait for Guatemala it'll be easier there. I'd go to Antigua if you don't like Guatemala City: easier, smaller, more relaxed, better food.....but kind've disney-fied.

enjoy,

Mark
