Central America weather

Would someone share their thoughts on traveling in late October and early November in CA. Is this a heavy rainy season?

In Costa Rica, yes it is!

However, last October I rode from Connecticut through Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras and back. In 3-1/2 weeks of riding, I saw no rain in Honduras, one late afternoon/evening downpour in Guatemala, one early morning rain until 10am in Guatemala, and one morning downpour until 10am in Mexico. Pretty minimal for the rainy season, but I also just dodged tropical storm Gamma and Hurricane Stan.

Just remember last fall, October is still the tail end of the hurricane season in CA and the regular wet is winding down. November should be less wet as the normal wet season in most places nearing its end. Stick to the pacific side of most of the countries and you should be in the drier zone south of the mountain spine. Just keep an eye to the weather websites.

In Guatemala it rains from May to early November. The wetest months are July, August and September.
