Border Crossing Mex-Guatemala at Tapachula?

I am in Tapachula looking to cross into Guatemala tomorrow. I read that the Hidalgo crossing is crowded but can anyone tell me if Talismán is OK, or is it worth the 2 hours extra to ride up to the La Mesilla crossing?

Can I get by without a helper at Talismán?

Thanks!

La Mesilla is definitely the nicest border and also the one with the best scenery : Yoy will ride through the great western highlands and not through the boring lowlands of the Pacific coast .

Talisman aduana not so good

I could not get my deposit from the Mex. aduana back (200USD for a 1993 van, don't know if that applies similarly to motorcycles), we could not bother heading somewhere back to do that.... otherwise all is straightforward, without a helper, you can head for the mountains immediately after, head for San Marcos and on...

Is that border crossing open now, I am going to be leaving Mexico in a couple of days and La Messila seems like the best option:confused1:

Yup, came through it 3 days ago. Mex customs 5 or so kms before Guatemala customs. Stop there first to cash in your TVIP. Exchange rate for US$ at Guatemala border is 7 Q to the dollar. No banks, street money changers work fine and safe. You need 160 Q to get through with a bike and 15Q for "fumigation" of your bike. No other fees. No helpers. Sleepy and safe border. You can see your bike all the time.

I am in Villahermosa at the moment, will hopefully cross on Sunday:thumbup1:

Where do I sort out my TVIP is it at the Banjobank? I never got stamped into Mexico do you think this might cause me any bother on the way out:nono:

Maybe on the Guate side.
Why did you ride in Mexico illegally without properly documenting the bike?
Don't get stopped and asked for your TVIP if don't have one. You'll either lose the bike or you'll be paying a lot of mordida.
I know people who have done this but I would never recommend it.

I rode down trough Baja and got my TVIP and tourist visa in La Paz, I have everything I need, except an entry stamp into Mexico, do you think that no stamp might be an issue:nono:

No entry stamp needed, just return the tourist visa card.

Sorry, I thought you had no documentation for the bike whatsoever.
You'll be fine with what you've got.

Here are some pics of the border

As you can see, a sleepy affair:
