Border crossing Honduras - Nicaragua
 

Hi folks, we just crossed into Nicaragua at Danli - Los Manos (Honduras). First of all, the road is perfectly paved, from Danli in Honduras to whatever city in Nicaragua, great to Esteli, potholes but pavement to Leon from Esteli.

Exit Honduras:

On Honduras site there is just Aduana.
Check out your bikes there. no costs, easy going. You get the same stamp u got when entering, just the exit version.

Exit and Enter.

Between the borders is the main building.

1. Exit Honduras. (sign above the counter). Stamp in ur passport, pay 3 US Dollar. done

2. Enter Nicaragua: Fill out paper (same form like entering Honduras or Guatemala. pay 7 Dollar US. done

3. go to Aduana (sign above the counter).
they fill out a paper. U need drivers licence, Title and Passport. then they force u to buy an mandatory insurance (although having internatinal insurance we had to buy one, no chance to get around). pay 12 Dollar US for insurance. then they check ur bike registration and chassis number.

no more costs. no copies required. (although aother people needed to have copies!!!)

altogether it took about 2 hours for 4 people. Just two kids hanging around which were ok. Money changer are a little annoying but ok. U dont need to change here, u can pay in US Dollar as well (actually a better rate). But the rates for changing are the same on both sides of the border, so it doesnt matter.

Easy border crossing and it was a sunday.
