Bike hire in Cuba/dom rep
 

Hi travellers,

I have been invited to a holiday in Dom Repl. but would like to extend it to a longer holiday. Does anyone know if you can hire a motorbike in Havana and take it across to Dom Rep? are there any borders anyway. Sorry I have just heard it and do not know anything about that area yet.

Any tips would be great!

late reply, but it still may be of use to you..........i rented a bike in cienfuego and rode all around both coasts over 2 weeks. surprisingly, they wanted no credit card, no deposit and he only took my name and the casa de particular i was staying at. i kept thinking to myself how many could take advantage of the situation. i was 4 days late returning it but they did say prior that it was no problem when, where and how. there is an island off the north coast, is this where you are thinking? if so , i met 2 riders that did the trip with no problems. i would take fotos to document any damage to the bike prior to renting as they tried to pin some damage on the lower legs on me. their pre-damage report "vanished". hope you have ot had a good trip. Has anyone got any up to date information about what may be involved in taking my Motorcycle to Cuba from Mexico, modes of transport, formalities etc? :palm:

I`m thinking of including it on a trip around the region this winter. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated. :mchappy:
