anybody in the area? heading to tikal in the am then touring GT... any advice?

Yes, don't use Highway 5 to Lanquin :-)

Its not a highway :-)

It shows on most maps as a road that goes east west and towards Copan, and near Lanquin.

From Flores yu can drop south to Copan, at a T junction you can go left (east) or right (west), if you choose left it starts t get interesting.

It will all depend what sort of roads you want to ride, mostly I enjoyed it, Jean didn't.

we chose right/west and it got really interesting too... the kids love to wave on that road too...

Its the Coca Cola trucks you have to worry about :-)

i can confirm highway 5 is still not paved... from rabinal south also... the cave and river at semuc champey/laquin are worth going to see though
