Women's clothing pakistan & Iran?

Any advice on what is currently the situation in these countries re what I need to wear. Can I now just wear a coloured scarf and coat or do I need to don the whole black veil thing? Am planning to be there with my boyfriend June/July 2002.
Also where is the best place to buy near the borders?

Hai,

Since you also need a photo for you visa with a scarf, you'll need to get it a bit sooner I guess.
As far as I know it still should be black for Iran. You could ask Iris and Trui who are on there way there. You'll find the adress here on the HUBB. (use search)

Hi, I went through Iran and Pakistan with my partner on the back of the bike and she just wore one of my shirts ( she is 8.5 stone and I am 15.5) which was long enough and baggy enough to cover all womanly curves, she also wore a head scarf at all times but this was just a cotton motorcycle type scarf, as long as your hair is covered there is no problem, obviously all sinful flesh should be covered. In Pakistan we were given local clothing by a family who asked us to stay in their house, it would not be costly to buy in Pakistan any way. When Gill went shopping to the local markets by herself she wore these clothes and had no trouble whatsoever, she has light brown hair and so probably would not have stood out as much as a blonde would.
