Weekend gear - tested and tried.
 

Been upgrading my equipment for weekend trips around Georgia (the country) and did another test run this weekend to Kazbegi. Bike is a KTM 500 EXC:
1. Rack and 15 litre bags - RTE light rack with a Rotopax (but I decided the mounting plate was too heavy and just use a ROX strap (they are the best!); Use a Ortlieb bag for tent, mattress and bag and it serves as a bit of a back rest when set up against the rotopax.
2. Tent - Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 - light and quick set-up and especially like the two vestibules and good air flow. Not a two person tent though - get a three person for two people is my suggestion.
3. Bag and mattress - Big Agnes Q core mattress and a Big Agnes Lost Ranger bag - at last I stay on the mattress at night; combo sleeps great!
4. Kelley Kettle - I gotta have my coffee in the morning and it really does take less than 5 minutes to boil water with hardly any twigs. Actually the same technology as in the Russian samovars.
5. Security - dogs are especially problematic in the mountains. Have a long sabre saw sword which mounts under the side bag and doubles as a firewood saw, plus carry a Makarov CO2 pistol which as an eighteen shot bb clip. Sure worked well on the two dogs that stalked me on Friday.

I own the Kelley Kettle. Cool device as long as the fuel is dry. Rather large and I got the small one. I pack a Glock 17L, Big Aggie Aircore, Nomad tent, Whiskey and Cigars. My Rotopax 1.75G bolts directly to the rear rack. I almost forgot the most important thing, my Geigerrig RIG1600 100L hydro back pack. By far the best investment for Adventure Riding.
