Warm Temperature helmets - HJC bi moto ???
 

Hi folks,

I’m planning a Jordan trip and need a suitable helmet. I like the idea of the moto cross style but have heard negative things about using them on the hightway. A flip front is good but have found mine to be too hot in warm weather and steams up in cool weather.. (it’s the family inheritance – big nose and heavy breather – but that’s another story)….

Does anyone use a HJC Bi Moto helmet, it’s an off road style helmet, with removable peak (ideal for the highway) and removable visor so you can use goggles… looks ideal (apart from the colours) and its in my budget at around €200

The trip is highway through Europe then a slower router down to Turkey : Syria and Jordan – warmer temperatures need to be an big consideration.

I have a flip face (BMW s5) and a moto-x style (BMW enduro) and It is a lot louder then the flipface, so if you go this route get some good ear plugs!!! The peak does catch the wind at highway speeds and can add to fatigue.

My personal experience is that the enduro is much cooler, and very light so I like it. but all in all for touring i still prefer my flip face. Now i only wear my enduro when going off road. Dont know which i will chose for a desert trip (i guess it depends on weather, and if i am solo or two up). I have never held the HJC so I dont know what it is like but he BMW is also less then £200, and the sun peak and visor come off in seconds and you only need a 10p coin to do it..

My advise is go to a local shop and actually pull it apart as I have had helmets that say "quick" change that takes 45 minutes...

I ride motocross helmets pretty much all the time, unless its raining (it stings!).

I have no problems with motorway speeds, and above!

Yes its noisier, but I dont suffer from fatigue or anything because its a motocross helmet.

This is a good question - I've been looking for a hot weather helmet for a while but no luck yet. I don't like the motoX style for various reasons but specially because theyre so posy folk think you're trying to outdo ewan McGregor.

I'd like to hear of HUBBERS answers to this one. There are a few mesh type helmets but they are crap in other respects.

Fot the moment I just use my Caberg flip front. If I could have that with bigger vents or mesh panels then I d have it.

My eyes water in my motocross helmet at motorway speeds and I don't like wearing goggles even in the desert (except for sand storms or rain).

I would worry about my hearing if traveling regularly in an open helmet without good ear plugs and the wind catches the peak if you don't remove it.

I have a system 4 helmet and what I do is move the visor up at down as I vary my speeds. I find it's the best way to deal with heat such as you'd find in Jordan and it works for me. :thumbup1:
