Tarp

Can anybody recommend a tarp that is available in the UK that will cover a 2 man tent and/or fold in half for a ground sheet AND pack small?
I like the look of the Kelty Noah’s Tarp but can't find it for sale in good old ingerland.

absolutely the best tarp/ground cloth is very cheap to make.

super light weight/tough vapor barrier used in house construction.
comes in rolls large enough to give large coverage for large projects.

DuPont™ Tyvek

a super effective way to use when water proofing a tent is to make a tyvek ground cloth about 18in larger than tent footprint.

then use tyvek INSIDE your tent... form a bowl with vapor barrier 18in wall .. no water will get inside your tent from below. almost all tents will leak from bottom as it wears.

for packability on a bike, you cant beat the new silicone impregnated tarps - super light, super strong and much better waterproofing than a regular nylon tarp.

if you cant find one in the UK, heres a link to MEC.ca, you can join from anywhere in the world for about $5 CAD and they can post to the UK:

DD hammocks and tarps

HiFolks I have tried out a few tarps, some small some huge. This company provided what I considered to the best for the price.

Tarp - DD Hammocks

The price has gone up since I bought mine but then again evrything has gone up. I still think it is value for money.

Hope this helps.

I have one from Decathlon-use in conjunction with my tent for cooking/dining. Good value!

I've tried a few from just plain bits of woven plastic tarp to huge ones that came with poles. I've settled on this one Sargasso Green Hammock Basha Camping Tarpaulin +cord | eBay
From Tenth Wonder.

Not lots of money, good quality and great service from the seller. Throw away the string that comes with it and get some quality 550 para-cord and you'll be sorted. It's about the right size; will give you plenty of cover for bike repairs or cooking and also over a hammock. Folds up really small, not much bigger than my coffee mug.

If I had one niggle, I would prefer if it had a few more tags on it although to be honest, it works fine as is. When I've got nowt to do one day, I might sew on some extras.

I have got some but found that they need to be forced on really tight to stay on when not under tension and I started to see some "distress" in the fabric around them.
I think that the fabric that the tarp is made from is so thin that the little teeth can't bite into anything. I've just thought. I could use a little square of other cloth as a backing, that might work.

Have a look here Bison Bushcraft - Field Kit
i've had one for a few years, very adaptable and hardwearing, Ask Roger to add in the paracord and learn how to tie knots (the right ones!)
Don't worry if the website says 'currently unavailable' the stock comes & goes quicker than they can update the site! best to ring or email for current stock situation
Hope that helps!
