sizing you travel jacket

I was curious to see if you need to take an extra size jacket to be able to wear a heated jacket under it, I never got one but for my RTW I think i will do well with one.

Heated jackets tend to be pretty thin and you only want to wear them with something like a longsleeved t-shirt under them. You don't, at least in my experience, need to size up on your main jacket at all.

I have always found that my non-vented riding jacket is to hot.
On my trip to South America and back , I used my regular riding jacket with a light waterproof shell for over top.
I would have been better off with a mesh riding jacket and a waterproof shell.
You can always wear all your clothes underneath to stay warm, and if you are still too cold then you have to question your route...or buy more clothes.
I ended up riding through lots of South America without my jacket on
because it was to hot.
A Heated vest would be a good alternative because they are thin and can be worn under your regular jacket, but they are a bit of a hassle plugging in, getting on and off the bike.

heated jacket

Thanks for the info guys , now the jacket is for my passenger, she will be way warmer with it vs with ton of layer on herself and not mentioning she will also be more confortable. I normally travel in warmer season but even then I met cold weather in mountain in Africa ,in the andes even in SE Asia so the jacket will be a welcome addition. A happy pillon is a easy one.
