As much as I like my Schubert Concept, I hate it.

Since the second week the closing mechaniasm has been faulty, being very difficult to release. I actually have to bend the chin to the right in order to open, and sometimes I have to wrestle to get the bastard open. It would be a bummer if I was claustrophobic.

The windnoise is significant, even though I chopped my windscreen on the F650 Dakar. At the original height I had a vortex at around my ears, which was shaking my head around and quite deafening. I chopped it by a few cetimetres, and the main blast catches me on the upper chest, while my head flies through clean air. Still, I need earplugs or I´d be stone deaf by now.

Chaingang had some links to a company producing taller screens, but i still havn´t found one for the Dakar

I would love a quieter helmet that opens properly...

For what its worth..... I have been using a BMW system 4 helmet for the last two years day in day out all (British) weather. The lid is pretty quiet on my R80gs (no windshield) right up to 160kmh but on my K75 with windshield plus various deflector aids, the noise is earsplitting at 100kmh. The hinge mechanism wore out after 12 months use ( £20 to repair) but overall the lid has been ok. and the moral of all this is.....ditch the windshield and keep the flip-up lid.

Hi, with helmets it's a very personal thing, last year I and my partner treated ourselves to new helmets and went for the flip front type, Airoh PR2000's ( No I have never heard of them before) Mine, a large, is nice and quite, no need for ear plugs wether riding a bike with or without a screen, however my partners helmet (XS) is so noisy that she bought another helmet at the weekend.The Airoh retails at £89.99 in the UK and has all the usuall safty stickers etc. Chris

Okay I was searching for the same thing and had a very close look at the following:

About the helmet on t-child.com from roof.
It looks nice and practical but is far from that. Surtainly in sandy area's. Then the sand wil scratch over the glass everytime.

I bought a Lazer - revolution modular.
Which is realy quiet and light to wear.

Anyone got any recommednations for a London based - or near to London for overland riding gear ? Just got a bike... now I need a helmet and stuff !

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
