I just have to ask myself the question...... since Alcohol is in itself a 'volatile' substance, hence it will evaporate, How can a Company 'Powder' Red wine. and then just by adding say 200ml of water the alcohol content be at 8.2%? This would of course depend on very carefully controlled measuring, as 100ml would make the alcohol content of the liquid 16.4%..... so I cant see how it can be sold as 8.2%, nor can I see how it can successfully be done?
Maybe my Ban was longer than I thought and its April 1st already?

In this way, encapsuled in small capsules, the fluid can be handled as a powder. The cyclodextrines can absorb an estimated 60 percent of their own weight in alcohol. [

In Germany a product called Subyou alcopop powder based on imported raw alcohol powder from the US.[2] reportedly was or is distributed on the internet. The product was available in four flavours and packed in 65 gram or possibly 100 gram sachets. When mixed with 0,25 litres of water it gives a drink with 4.8 % alcohol.

Right, Thanks ChrisJ86, I WAS partly right, to stop the Alcohol evaporating they have to mix it with the cyclodextines, all well and good. but, it still doesn t stop the other problem does it? the problem of strength? if 0.25 litre or 250 ml of water is mixed with the packet, you get a drink, ( approx half a pint) of 4,8% alcohol, thats equal to a pretty good Beer. half the water and you double the strength to 9.6% thats Carlsberg Special Brew territory......

Now further on in the Wikipaedia it says that these drinks are marketed at the "Youth" Market...... what Teen ever follows the instructions? I can only see trouble 'brewing' here........what started life as a good idea (Campers, climbers, adventures etc) seems to have been turned to the teen market once again.... is that because they have more disposable income?

They had this on Jonathon Ross's chat show last night, and I doubt it tastes that good, given that the man will usually shove anything in his face, and just puckered up at a mere sniff of it.

Dehydrated water
 

Just a packet of this dehydrated wine and mix it with the packet of dehydrated water and Viola. I wonder if you get a dehydrated hangover?

I think i'd prefer to carry a half bottle of wine and use it as a treat.

How much powder can I add to my Special brew before it won't come out of the can. We need exact measurements!

I,m sure toratech have this stuff for sale. There must be someone out there whos tried it or maybe its poison. I find a box of wine minus the box is easy to transport 3 litres of the lovely stuff and the empty bag makes a great pillow or floatation device.

why carry the stuff around? if you are somewhere in the world you cant find some reasonable local wine or hooch then;
a/ the locals dont, so you shouldnt either
b/ youre in a harsh place and getting pissed isnt a good idea
c/ whats the point of going places like a and b?
