New Helmet Recommendation?
Folks

I have a Schuberth C2. I don't like it. The drop down visor mechanism has broken and I find it's noisy anyway. Very disappointing. I know many people swear by them....but not me.

Anyway, I've decided to get another one. I like the flip front idea in principle but don't want to spend any more than around £150. Therefore any recommendations for Shoei, Arai etc. will be futile. I know the "you only get what you pay for" phrase only too well. I adopted that principle when I bought the Schuberth! At the same time I don't want one from Lidl/Aldi either (even though some people will swear by them too!)

My riding is occasional, mostly in summer months but even then there's the odd rain shower too.

Any ideas?

I had a Schuberth C2-- poor fit, condensation, let in the rain too - just like b'ems enduro helmet come to think about it- didn't like either of them. Grreat for looks- short on delivery- ( I'm a marketing victim!! )
Consider the System 5 or the newer System 6
For the money, well worth it- £350 - it is a lot but then...what price a brain or part of a face?
No steaming up, great ventilation and very comfortable (for me)
I always find it strange that it seems so many buy so many expensive gadgets/bling etc etc spending a lot of dosh on that stuff but 'go minimal' on a helmet! I prefer my wee brain well protected especially after a close encounter with the armco and what that did to my lid!

Hey,

I tried a shuberth and it was great but the internal visor wasn't made very well. It was very thin and loose. Rattled a round, distorded my view and worst of all it didn't drop down far enough.

I sold that and tried the Nolan. Another great helmet but Heavy. It hurt my neck on long rides.

I recently bought a HJC 16. It's not a flip up (they do have a flip up version) but its one of the best helmets I've ever had (so far)

It has an internal sun visor like the shuberth but its much made way better, thicker and stronger. It also has 3 positions and covers a lot more area with out bouncing around like the cheap shuberth one did.

It's got to be one of the lightes full face helmets I've ever used and really well ballenced. Cool, well vented (so far, its only reached upper 80's here so far) and quite. Altho I do get a little rattle at highway (80 mph) speeds.

I use a mirrored visor night and day and with the internal never need clear or sunglasses.

Best of all its priced under $200 us. A lot of helemt for the money.

I got myself an Airoh S4 Dualsport helmet recently and love it.





I've found it one of the quietest helmets I've worn (not that I've worn hundreds) and like the ventilation it gives. While having a peak gives me the enduro feel it wasn't THE reason I bought it, the main thing was that ordinary fullface lids give me claustrophobia after a while and I find it a nightmare to get glasses in without poking my eyes out, The larger facehole makes this much easier and I really feel like I'm riding around open-faced.

Oh and at £100-£130 it isn't even that expensive.

You can do a search on here. It even allows search by price, although prices no doubt vary from one retailer to the next...

I've got two flip fronts ,my old Nolan 100 is quiet ,doesn't let in rain ,has the old awkward two handed flip mechanism ,is mid market priced and is well made . I would recommend it if you can live with the dorky look or perhaps the newer 103 [although the fit is a little different and didn't suit me ] .

My new HJC Symax 2 is a bit noisier , lets in a lot more wind ,fogs up easier ,[ I'm searching for a chin curtain for this helmet ] , has a very convenient flip mechanism ,mid market priced ,well made and a bit more stylish .The internal sunshield is great . I'd recommend it as well ,if the fit is right for you .

On cold rainy days I take the Nolan .

OK, I know this is a fairly old thread but......
I've seen criticism of the Schubert C2 but has anyone tried a C3? And what is the opinion?
