MSR Fusion 3 tent.

Hi

Does anyone have experiance of having used an MSR Fusion 3 tent (or any of the other MSR range for that matter)?

I had a look at one today (in the UK) and in terms of features it seams like exactly what I'm looking for. However it retails at £400 GB which is silly money and I'm not about to pay that. In the US they are $359 which is more like it.

I'll be using it as often as possible on a 4 year RTW trip so would like any feedback if you have experiance of using one.

I knoe there are loads of really good tents on the market but this one would 'appear' to be just the job!

Thanks and safe travells

Chris

The Fusion 3 is a nice tent - MSR makes good quality stuff.

WE're looking for a tent ourselves right now. We ruled out the fusion because it only has one door. It's a similar design to our current tent, and the one door was a pain in the neck. The fly opening is also annoying - you have to reach way out into the far corner to get at the opening zipper. Other than that, great!

We put less emphasis on 4 season and more on hot season - opting for more mosquito mesh and ventilation.

Have you had a look in the trip planning section on tents?

Our recent shortlist includes the MSR Sidewinder, worth looking at. No final conclusion yet though!

Thanks for the reply Grant.

I bought the Fusion 3 yesterday as it happens. The original retailer who quoted me £400 gb suddenly offered to sell it for £300 when I told Him I'd get my brother to bring one over from the USA for me so I jumped at it! Just goes to show what the mark-up is. I wouldn't have asked the retailer to drop the price - at the end of the day they are a business and not a charity - but if they offer, who am I to refuse!

Thanks again. If anyone is interested post a reply and I'll let them know how I get on with it.

Cheers

Chris

Just to say I took the tent out for the first time at the weekend to give it a test run.

The upshot is: it is really quick to put up, just big enough inside for 2 people and gear (in comfort), the vestabule isn't that big but big enough for cooking in out of the rain (as we found out) and oh ye' it's very waterproof in horizontal rain and gales (we were in Wales!)

Using a tent once proberbly isn't enough to find out its weak spots but I'm really happy with it so far and worth the money I'd say.

Thanks

Chris
