Klim jackets
 

I've recently bought a Klim Lattitude Jacket, and it's great - except for the fact that the high-ish collar is quite stiff. This makes looking around quite annoying! I've read on other forums that washing the Jacket might soften it up, which I've done with no effect.

Is it just a case that wearing it will naturally soften it, or are there things I can do to help the process along a little? It's quite distracting whilst riding.

I'm afraid there's little to do with stiff stand up collars with velcro closure. Some have taken theirs to a seamstress and had it altered lower.

I had a firstgear jacket like that. Quite annoying. I found it cheaper to get used to it. People in the air force in WWII like my Dad wore silk scarves to keep their necks from getting rubbed raw by their collars. Like us, they were always looking around for bogeys.

I must admit, wearing a buff helps a little - but not a great solution as the weather hots up (if it ever does here in the UK!).

given Klims reputation and the high cost of the jacket I would try them and see what they have as a solution.

Try tossing it in the dryer. No heat necessary, just let it bounce around and break in. Love love love my Klim Traverse jacket, best moto-coat I've ever owned.

Endurodude, I know its a little far, but Hideout leather near Saffron Walden (beautiful roads round there, really worth a rideout), I took my Halvarssons Jacket in for alterations round the neck, mine were simple, a pad under the top of the zip, and an extension on a velcro strip, and that was about £30.

Kate and the girls will do a good job, and chalk it up on you. Well worth the money.

I looked at the Klim trousers, and the cordura was so thick and rough round the elasticated ruched waist that without wearing layers underneath, it would no doubt chaffe over time. My halvassons trousers are lined with soft neoprene around the waist. Lovely.
