jackets

Hey my name is Jesse, I am planning a trip to south America and wondering about what jacket to get for the trip. My issue is I have a decent leather jacket, not idea on its own, and a set of wet weather jacket and pants. I am not sure if I should but a textile jacket like the alpinestar firm which has a gore-text liner and gore-text liter shell, but the internal jacket is not the best for camping all weather etc. Does anyone see problems with getting a good event of gore-text jacket to use with me leather and wets. I know it means three seperate jackets but I plan on doing a lot of camping, some cold weather hiking and skiing. Any thoughts? Durdan jacket is around $700 and a allweather shell is about $500. I need a jacket with a hood for cold weather. Also any big problems besides venting with wearing a leather jacket?
Cheers

Have you looked at a Klim PowerXross? If you want a motorcycling goretex shell, thats what I would take.

hey i had a look at the kilm, looks like it would do the job. I got a decent price for a macpac Event jacket (prophet) fits under and over my leather bike jacket with or without a jumper under as well so warmth should be ok. I will take my wets with me incase the event cant take the wind and rain will riding, i will turf it if the "prophet" works. Might not be the best for the bike but it will be my jacket for all the time i am not on the bike, has a good hood and all the things you want from a w/proof breathable jacket. It is a longer cut at the rear also (not sure the name maybe 3/4 cut?) and two ropes waist and bottom, snow should be sweet. I will review the product after a few months and let everyone know, becuase i have found it really hard to get gear that suits my purposes. thanks heaps
