I love my COBB

I can't believe this little piece of cooking heaven is so little reviewed.

I love my COBB and would get rid of my spare wheel (nr 2) to find a place for it. Any 4WD owner who doesn't take one must be crazy!

Have you tried baking bread in it?

freeflyd 17 Oct 2008 14:21

I agree! I bought one a couple of weeks ago and since the first time I tried it, I don't really want to use anything else for cooking!

COBB recipe

Hi all,

John, the COBB is a barbeque that has a lid so can act as an oven too. It is designed to incredibly economical on fuel, cooknig a full roast with ten briquettes in two hours. It's quite big to be taking with us, but to give an idea we can store it, a bag of charcoal, fire lighters and a kelly kettle in a side locker.

AAs to cooking ...

Yes, we have cooked a full roast (chicken, potatoes etc) , pizza and bread on it. The only one we had a problem with was the chicken. But this was only caused by not using enough briquettes, forgetting that all the potatoes and other veg we were roasting would mean more weight.

THe pizza was great, and soooo simple. We cooked two loaves of bread. the first recipe was OK, but the second was superb.

500g S/R flour
1/2 tsp salt
340ml beer (warm)
50ml water
herbs/garlic/spices
Mix flour, salt, beer and herbs in a bowl, add water as needed to make a sticky dough. If you have them put some seeds at the top, pumpkin seeds being my favorite.

Cook for an hour or until the bread slides out of the tin.
