Vaude tents?

I'm still on the look out for a tent having taking into account the advice I've been given on this forum.

I've seen some good deals on the Vaude Ferret and Taurus tents. Any opinions?

I have a VauDe and it seems to be aok. I went for the Space 2. Ferret and Taurus are really 1 man tents... try getting all your gear and you in there.

I thought that might be the case. Trying to keep to a fairly tight budget so looks like its back to the Vango catalogue.

I recently picked up a Vaude Hogan on ebay for £85.00, its a good strong tent, not too heavy and roomy too.

VuaDe have a good reputation.

If you are on a budget Wild Country make excellent tents at around the same ball park price as Vango. Plus Terra Nova (who make them) are phasing out a lot of models so there are some bargains to be had online at the moment. Take a look at the Ilanos for solo m/cycle travelling (it's a small 2 man) I used to have one and found it ideal, now retired to a friend who uses it for summer camping and festivals etc. I've just bought a Trisar for two person hiking at less than 2/3 the list price.

i have used a vaude hogan for the past few years and cannot fault the performance, i take an additional bit of tarpaulin as the groundsheet is rather thin and prone to puncture if rough camping. The external shock cord system is excellent and i can pitch the tent in under three minutes including additional guy ropes. The hogan is advertised as a 2 man tent but you would have to be real friendly with the other person!

inner and outer are linked with toggles so its a doddle to pitch and move about once erected if you find a better spot

I have never had a leak yet, although i do proof the outer material so this helps alot.

Also it comes in plain green which is a bonus when rough camping as you dont stand out like a sore thumb.

I highly recommend vaude tents and would not consider any other brand to be honest.

I to have a Hogan, which I've owned for about 6 years. It's a lovely tent, beautifully made with quality materials. I no longer use this tent, not because of any failings with the unit but by with my change of useage. I always used the hogan as a place to simply sleep overnight, where as now I use a bigger tent as a hubb for several days at a time and appreciate more space. It may sound like a little thing but I really like to stand up, whilst putting on my bike gear (much appreciated when it's raining outside!).
