Dri Rider RallyCross Jacket = Junk

Bought the Dri Rider RallyCross ,and what looks to be on paper as the ideal jacket for hot climates has proven to be one of those disaster purchases.After 3months the mesh in several areas is starting to come apart and fray,with stitching along the sleeves and cuffs breaking.Definately a case of you get what you pay for and not worth considering.

Sounds like you got a lemon.

I've had one for about a year now and its fine - works as advertised. It is most definitely a summer only jacket though.

Take it back.
It should be covered under manufactures warranty.

You didn't happen to cover it in mosquito repellant by any chance, the stud with DEET? It will disolve synthetic fibres...

Mate I bought one of these did 5000km around Queensland in 10 days and the thing fell apart. When ever the velcro touches the thread it frayed. The zip died and you had to be an epileptic to get it done up. Great design but very poor quality. Took it back to the dealer and was replaced no charge. Apparently I was not the only person to return one. Have ordered a Motoport Ultra 2 Airmesh kevlar jacket from the states. Hasn't turned up as yet. Go to www.motoport.com all reports are they are the bees knees.

not surprised about the jacket however their gloves are good - rally-cross is the model. bought them for finke desert race and now they commute and tour in warm weather, have lasted well and quite a cheap glove

pretty big dollars involved but my BMW Rallye-2 jacket is now about two years old, daily riding and excellent. just about to make its first trip to europe/africa. i have the goretex insert which does the trick but of course you have the hassle of putting it in and out.

Hmmm, you must have got the Friday 5pm jacket

I have had one now for over a year, and only thing to break/rip/fall apart is one dome on the pocket (which isnt a biggie)

I have ridden with it on too, one trip around NZ which was 8000km in 3 weeks, and about another 20,000km since.
On that trip we encountered extreme wet (floods) and temps over 35+, and it worked like a dream

I use the extra kit (which includes a thermal liner) and it stands up to the wet and cold ok.
In fact I was out over the weekend in Sub zero temps and whilst I felt the cold I was reasonably warm

I have had one of these for over a year and have been very happy with it. I use it with the liner in winter and have never been too cold.

Intersting thread... I am looking to purchase a jacket and trousers for a trip to start in the middle of next summer....

route is yet to be finalised but initially will be france=cold/wet down to turkey=dry/hot and just about every where in between...

the following year I intend on heading towards morroco...

Any suggestions on what kind of riding clothes to wear????

I really like the look of the Hein Gericke Toureg Jacket. Nice idea being able to remove the waterproof part in hotter weather...... BUT... does this kind of thing work - is this similar in principal to the Dri rider Rally Cross????

WHAT ABOUT TROUSERS?

I was really tempte to do this summer with my Hood Jeans on and a pair of waterproof over trousers.... try to split the cost down over 2 years...

Any suggestions here...

I'll be riding in my SIDI COURRIER boots as my Frank Thomas road boots are just not comfy enough... What do other people wear?

Personally I have no probs with my Belstaff Celcius Jacket - only available from Busters as they are the old top of the range jackets before the company was sold to an Italian Fashion House, and my Heine Gericke Cruise trousers.

Used this combo for three years now from -11C in central Europe to 38C and 95% humidity in Southern France.

At the end of the day it is fit and weather protection that counts and a good base layer , wicking for summer and thermal for winter. Fit of course is purely subjective and each garment fits everyone in different ways. i would never buy something I haven't tried on first.

As regards boots, as an all round and all weather rider I swear by my BMW Santiago boots... Bit pricer than the similar boots Oxtar put out under their own label , but with a two year no quibble warranty and everything breakable cheaply replaced from the BMW spares inventory , they are my fave boots.

In 18,000 miles in as many months I have only replaced a steel toe protector , and a pair and as they are stainless expected to pay big bucks. Nope less tha fiver for the pair and the fixing screws!
