Help - Camping Gear London
Does anyone know any decent camping stores in greater London? I depart for a 6 month overland trip to Cape Town on Monday and am desperately looking for quality tents and camping furniture. Places like Blacks, Go-outdoors etc are all either aimed at the hiking market or sell cheap and nasty gear.

Field and Trek in Covent Garden or Lillywhites on Regent Street might be your best bets.
The other option (if you have the time and don't want to buy online and risk stuff not turning up before you go) would be to get up the Lake District and hunt around the stores in Ambleside etc. They tend to have much better product ranges than their southern counterparts. Good luck with the trip. |

The best place that I've found (apart from the lake district which is a very good option!) is Go Outdoors in Colindale.
GO Outdoors Colindale Store Page They are really very big and have a lot of little bits and pieces that you wont find anywhere else. Highly recommended! |

The Outdoor Shop in Stony Stratford near Milton Keynes is not too far away from London and is on a par with some of the shops in Cumbria that Iain mentioned.
The staff all seem pretty knowledgable
