Flying with moto luggage

I'll be shipping my bike from Canada to Asia soon, and wanted to know how people transport the luggage?

I use soft bags, and could check them, but am worried about buckles etc breaking. I was going to stuff it all into 2 cheap overbags, and then toss the bags on the other side.

Is that common, or am i missing something obvious? eg. better to leave them on the bike???

Take expensive valuables and essential items as hand luggage if you can.

If you want to check luggage and don't want them damaged then have them plastic wrapped at the airport. Most airports offer this facility.

Or just wrap them in bin bags with parcel tape etc... Just do a good job.

I ship the luggage with the motorcycle (attached to the motorcycle) whenever I ship the moto by air.

easier to leave them on the bike and just take out essentials, or leave one bag on the bike and take essentials and valuable with you in the other bag for flying

The weight limits of your airline ticket usually mean that it cheaper to send the heavy stuff with the motorcycle. Only take the stuff you need while you don't have the bike with you. Usually that means the tank bag (as carry on luggage) and a small bag as checked luggage - this could be a small backpack or rear rack bag.
