Halvarssons / Jofama Feedback Please
 

Hi, looking to source kit for an all conditions trip. I did a search on here for Halvarssons after hearing about them elsewhere. However, nothing came up.

Anybody got any experience of this kit?

I'm trying to achieve that Nirvana of good protection (both from weather and tarmac/rocks!) and not feeling like I'm carting around too much gear.

Trev,i had a good look at the Halvarssons / Jofama kit a couple of years ago at a bike show,but since then i've neither seen or heard of them again...are they still going? I did speak to a guy with a textile jacket last year at an Enduro who'd had his a couple of years though which is the closest i've come to an actual in-use report.He said it wasn't any where near as waterproof as his older Rukka kit but was more versitile as you can take out / add linings as you require(which i suppose nearly all proper travel kit is now). I too would be interested to hear anyone's own personal report on them as by rights they should be excellent kit being as it's made in Sweden(with their wet/cold weather for testing!).

i have just ordered a 2 piece textile jofama suit from woodfords in essex... tried the kit on at the nec and was impressed with the comfort and cheapness. i fell for the chaps blag about the versility also. fingers crossed he was genuine... mind you i have never found the completely perfect gear before, so i wont be that disapointed if it ends up not the full ticket.... will let you know the facts soon.

I bought Halvarsson gear this summer,a Korax jacket and Cobra trousers to replace my aging (and leaking)Gericke gear.It felt great in the shop and I fell for the ' if it's good enough for Sweden' sales pitch.However the first time in the rain both garments leaked so I had a soggy trip through Europe on the way to Norway and back!The dealer offered to replace it when I returned saying that it was a 'faulty batch' but I declined and took a refund which I spent on Rev-it! Dakar and Off-track instead.
The Oxtar Infinity boots I bought at the same time also leaked although the second pair seem OK!
As far as I can ascertain most ,if not all,M/C clothing is now made in China regardless of the name on the label so although the design may be excellent perhaps the quality of manufacture isn't always too hot.

Try Grandprixledgends.com they stock all the Halverssons range.The safety suit ,though expensive at £800 is probably the most comfortable and versatile 2 peice suit on the market and the whole suit not just the protectors is CE approved.Absolutely wonderful bit of kit

The Halvarssons are I believe actually made in Sweden, certainly you can send your worn old suit back to them for hand made repairs.:clap:

The safety suit now comes with a lighter weight armour/abrasion option as well and the combinations of vented, 1/2 vented, fully waterproof and flouro's So thats made the range a bit cheaper for me and I'm going to give them a whirl, best part being once the outer is trashed it's a cheap thing to just buy a new outer skin.
A few owners have said the safety trousers are a bit heavy and bunch at the knees, I think I'll try the lighter weight trousers and full strength jacket

They do seem relatively unknown as a brand here in the UK though the safety suit was developed for use by the British police force and has since been adopted by other forces (Czech IIRC) the Full suit costing £900 is offputting for many I guess but really that buys you a vented and waterproof set of outers and a safety rating up there and above in some cases leathers.

i have just done 5000 miles with the jofama - helva..... taal trousers and graffiti jacket. I love them. 3 days slashing down in BC. relativley waterproof, better than any other so called waterproof gear i have owned. drys very quickly. Vents all over the place that actually let some breeze in. 3 layers in the jacket, including the waterproof membrane. It was very hot in montana, i just took the liners out and the coolness was perfect. They zip together, with a strong zip. Pockets everywhere. Oh yes and they look great. I strongly recommend them.

I have the Halverssn safety 1 jacket.. and my take:
The Bad..
-off the body it weighs a ton or maybe a ton and a half.
- the "style" of the kevlar over jacket is not me.. it is very "floopy" .. (my wife says ugly)
- the arm cuffs on the kevlar over jacket are fleece so when they get wet they soak it up like a spong
- you have to pay extra for a back pad


The good
- once on you cant feel it
-the inner jacket fits well and the armour does not move
-you cant feel the armour once on.
-I like the fact tthat both the jacket and the armour are CE aprroved (only one in the world As far as i know)
- you have 100's of options for venting
- except the cuffs the jacket is 100% water proof.
- it is the first jacket that i felt 100% safe in (jsut by fit and feel)
- the versitlity of the layer system if great! I have road with just the inner and it was nice.. and still safe..
- I did tecseal the jacket but it was not needed. (I just do that as a matter of habbit).
- like the changeable colour strip,.. hi-vis too
-I have been in abslutly soaking rain.. and stayed dry


All in all i would give it a 8/10.. (but i have never given a jacket more then 5/10 before this)...

I am a bush walker so i am used to the layer system and really like it.

Skellers yamaha Yamaha Motorcycle Dealers - Yamaha Motorbikes and Scooters, Cheltenham, Worcester UK have the range and they are a great company to deal with.

WARNING: at the same time i purchased a pair of lindstrands (a sub-branch of jofama)..Gi-pants.. they fit great but fell apart with in a week... Jonh and Skellers gave me replaced them each time and yet they still fell to bits.. so stick with halversson

Bit of a mixed reaction really. Bit put off now I think by Jofama.
I've stuck with my original kit so far but am still looking to update and rationalise this kit so that I can get weight down while maintaining protection/riding comfort for as many conditions as possible.

Ladies Halvarssons Leathers?

Read the above but it seems to (mostly?) relate to textiles?

Does anyone have any experience with Halvarssons Ladies Leather Jackets? None of them seem to have air vents, but the rest of the specs have sort of persuaded me. The BC ladies Carizma jacket has the TFL Cool System which is supposed to help prevent heat absorbtion by the black leather. Does anyone know if this is any good?

Would appreciate your comments;)
