On the strength ot Big yellow tractors original post I purchased one of these and found it to leak:nono:. I rang the company expecting problems, and with the costs of returning the stove etc to make a 'cheap' item turn into an expensive one, but to my suprise after speaking to Darren at St Johns cross, I was told that another stove would be sent to me along with a prepaid sticker to return the faulty one, This they duly did, not many firms send out replacements before recieving the original items, but full credit to St Johns cross for excellant sevice.

Howzit all

I'd appreciate some help with maintenance.

I brought a Coleman 442 (feather) for peanuts knowing it was not working.

There is a pinky/grey coating on the inside of the tank, this appears to have pealed off as there are flakes coming out of the tank. I suspect that this has blocked the system to an extent and is preventing the fuel from getting through the system properly. Is the coating normal? It is easily visible through the fuel filler neck

Following various repeated general cleaning efforts, I have not fully been able to clean all the grit off the wire, and there is still a jagged feel to the wire. I have also tried cleaning the on/off lever and lubricated the O-rings.

>I have been unable to remove the square block where it fits into the cylinder.
>When I pressurise the stove in the correct manner, it sounds as though its spurting out fuel in spits and starts in amongst the air.
>When I light the stove in the correct manner, with some petrol lying in the bowl, it sort of works, and the generator heats, up, but I have to pump like crazy, but eventually the flames die out, but continues to pump out air

I suspect that possibly this could be resolved with a new generator, but I believe that I will need to clean below the block - how do I open it up?

Lastly how does it work? After pumping furiously it forces air through the system for about 1 minute and is then exhausted (fully open) When operating normally and burning merrily does it suck create its own pressure, or do i need to pump it every minute or so?
