Coleman 533 Sportster Unleaded

don't know if it's been posted before but this is the perfect solution to touring stoves:

When the fuel runs out, suck some unleaded petrol out of the bike tank and fire up the stove again. No hastle lugging around cylinders and bottles of fuel.

Aye, great stoves, Sports Warehouse does 'em for £29.99. Best using proper white gas for them when you can though as the generators clog up with extended use of unleaded (although this kind of makes the whole buying a stove that runs off unleaded thing a bit pointless!). Either that or carry a spare generator on long trips.

My experience with that stove is good too. Still bought a new one now from MSR that folds together and has a shaker in under the jet - meaning that you just need to shake it 2-3 times to get the jet going again. And the new stove is smaller & less weight.

Does anyone know where i can get hold of a couple of spares for Coleman stoves, here in the UK? I've sussed out what part numbers i need from the Coleman website, but it says there that they only post in the USA,and every retail shop i've tried so far has been nothing short of hopeless! It's too good to ditch for want of £10 worth of parts.

I just did a quick google search and can't find the Coleman distributor/importer in the UK but if you go into any half decent outdoor shop they should be able to give you this info. after all thats where they get the stuff from. If they are unwilling to order stuff in for you the least they can do is provide you with the distributers phone number so you can at least find out if the spares are available in this country. Once you have this number you can ask the distributor for the relevent UK part nos. and contact details of a retailer who will do special orders for you.
Armed with the information that the stuff is definately only a phone call away I can't imagine any retailer with even the merest familiarity with the term 'customer service'point blank refusing to order the part for you.
I know its bloody frustrating how crap so many retailers are, if they don't see immediate profit margins with minimum effort they can't bother their arse.
Especially as I used to work in an outdoor shop and know how easy it is to arrange 'special orders'.

By the way, a tip when dealing with any retailer is to go during the week as it is weekend staff who are inevitably completely crap. Full timers generally have more nous.

I found some Coleman stove spares in a fishing shop (Veals) here in Bristol. If you have no joy elsewhere, remember that fishermen drink a lot of tea! Not all outdoor shops are for ramblers..

I notice Overland Solutions are a Coleman dealer, maybe they'll help you out?

in the states the best place for camping stuff is probably REI followed by Cabela's. REI carries nearly everything and parts to fix it. they have an unconditional guarantee--don't like it--bring it back, no questions. they also mail. don't go to the stores in person though because it is too easy to spend every dime you own.
