Clothing Legality

I notice a lot of the armour that comes in clothing has some standards marking such as the 'CE' mark.

Does this mean that it is, or will be, illegal to ride in some countries wearing clothing without the correct mark?

as far as i know that just means the protection has been tested against, and met the european standard. you can still buy stuff with "non CE approved" protection, so i dont think its illegal, just a different standard, like from the states perhaps.
the only thing ive ever heard of from a legal point is helmets
