Camping gas in Morocco

Hi. Does anyone know if the 'screw-in' camping gas canisters are readily available in Morocco - preferably the small 100/125 gram canister - or are they the French push-fit 'pierce' type? I'm flying in so can't pack one and I'd like to take my Jetboil.

I searched HU, but no luck. I'll also need a cheapo knife, though I expect to pick one up from a market. Cheers.

Sorry to give things a nudge, but perhaps someone knows if there are camping supply shops in Morocco? I don't know if this is a stupid question as I've never been there. I've searched this site (and the web) but nothing came up.

Do petrol stations do supplies? I'd appreciate any replies. Thanks.

I got some on the north cost in Moulay bousselham but that was two years ago. This year I'm taking a petrol stove as I'm on a bike.

If you get as far down the coast as Agadir you will find a HUGE Tesco-like store with all the camping gear you will ever need. It is heavily used by the ex-pat camping car crowd. It even has a hard liquor section.

I have a little gaz stove that uses 270 or 470 cannisters. those are by gamping gaz and are a mix of propane and butane so work anywhere. I bought it in a UK camping gear shop 12-15 years ago, and costs less than £10 ( then ).
Morroco will have french camping gaz. ( the blue cannisters). From choice when you get there the 470's last twice as long as the 270's for very little extra cost. a cannister will probably do three meals a day for 3 wweeks or more. The actual stove folds so you could easily carry it in your pocket..

Thanks for the suggestions so far. It's only a short trip (7 days) so I could survive without it if push came to shove. Ideally, I don't really want to buy a new stove to take the French 'push-fit' canisters, as that means I have to take an extra pot and it all adds up in space used. I'm only taking a day bag, but will consider it if all else fails.

Truth is, I just love my Jetboil. I see it as a 'water boiler' pure and simple - and it's fast! I can use it anywhere without looking like I'm 'setting up camp' - shopping precincts, bus stations, even handheld on a train! Perfect if you don't like paying tourist prices around Europe. But for Morocco, I thought it would be handy for the few times I'm on my own between towns and villages.

I see no reason to pay £10 for an adapter when you can buy the stove for the same money. see here Camping Gaz Bleuet 270 Stove from Surplus and Outdoors / Camping Stoves
this price includes a gaz cylinder, but they are available anywhere, uk and continent. ( including morrocco because it is french speaking). The arms fold in, to make it very small to carry..

It's tempting, though I'm reluctant to add stoves (and decisions) for future trips. I'll have a ponder.
