Are these jeans any good?

Belstaff Dynatec Basic Jeans Grey

Usually I'd stay away from Belstaff but these seem to be suitable for riding. Does the dynatec material offer suitable protection?

Thanks!

A German bike mag did a test (40 m sliding at 40 km/h, see Service: Vergleichstest Bikerjeans - Motorradhosen - MOTORRAD online) a while ago, the result for that pair of jeans was as follows:

Safety 1/5
Comfort 4/5
Price vs performance 2/5

There is another Belstaff with armour:

Safety 2/5
Comfort 3/5
Price vs performance 2/5

In comparison the test winner BMW City Denim:

Safety 4/5
Comfort 2/5
Price vs performance 4/5

Not surprisingly, it is a trade off between safety and comfort.

The same mag did another test (throwing a dummy off a bike at 80 km/h), which is summarised in a video (in German I'm afraid): Video: Produkttest Motorradjeans in MOTORRAD 13/2010 - Motorradhosen - MOTORRAD online

All biker jeans perform pretty poor compared to leather.

Maybe in town a good pair of biker jeans is fine, but for travelling I wouldn't use them.
