Aldi Bargins

My local aldi has compression base layers for £10 and a merino wool mid layer for £15 although the latter is only 30% merino wool.

may be worth trying.

bear in mind most outdoor kit is 100% merino wool, so you'll probably get 30% of the warmth for 30% of the cost ! Have a look at some brands like Icebreaker who specialise in the Merino kit
