Self-amalgamating tape bodge

My 1988 NX 650 has long rubber stemmed indicators, these have deteriorated with time and one has completely disintegrated, the other one cracked in the middle.
I used rubber self-amalgamating tape to reinforce the crack and wound turns about 25mm each way either side of the crack.
Its holding fine even with the vibey single.
You can also get that self-amalg tape made from silicone now, I got a roll to try it out but haven't needed it yet.

yep the 3M stuff is the mutts danglies. i fixed a burst radiator hose on a friends bike with that stuff, it held for a few weeks till he could get a replacement.
i always carry a roll in my pack, is also awesome for makeshift HT lead to Plug cap seals

a better repair can be made using epoxy resin then winding string ( ideally glassfibre tissue) over it. you can also include longitudinal 'splints'

butthe self amalgamating tape is great for waterproofing stuff.

For a rigid, not a flexible repair?
