Man makes moto from 2CV in the desert. With no tools.

There's no way I can sum this up, you'll just have to read the article.
Homemade motorcycle improvised out of a Citroen 2CV in the middle of the desert - Boing Boing
Now there's a man who deserves a pint.

Good thing he happened to be driving around with an oxy-acetylene rig or he'd have had trouble with fabrication....

Apparently he did not have any welder, he had to bolt things together. The only factor that could lead me to think that he was really in a desperate situation to build the bike to save his life is that he took a picture of himself wearing those horrible red loincloth. You really have to be desperate to do that!

I guess this guy had already forecast such an extreme desert situation during some cold French winters or sleepless nigts. He had mentally devised how it could be possible such a conversion if something went really wrong and, even if in the case it was much easier to walk a few kilometers, he said: "now it's the time to try it, I'll go for it". If it hadn't work, he still had plenty of water and food to go walking anyway (although it took him much longer than he initially thought, according to his report).

In any case, just amazing to conceive it and make it, even if not consequence of a desperate SOS situation (well, desperate enough as to wear those underwear!).

btw, discussed on this thread as well: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...al-story-64937

The story is so full of holes it would be difficult to know where to start. The only way it makes any sort of sense is if you assume it's a scam....which immediately renders the whole thing comprehensible and logical.

Agreed; we'll all love to to be true cos that we we can fool ourselves that we might do the same one day, but I reckon there's more pork pies here than a branch of Greggs

What springs to mind here is those fake 3 wheel morgans made from 2CVs, a five minute job compared to that thing.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
