White Power Shocks-HPN

My machine is a 1983 R80ST set up with a PD tank and Jesse Bags. This is a monolever model same as the old style G/S from the steering head back. It is working fine for rough travel on/off road but eats rear suspension killing the seals in 30K. I was considering a White Power Super adjuster for a replacement shock. I can get it from HPN. I would put on an Ohlins but they don't make one in my length(1" shorter than G/S). What's the word on HPN and White Power. I want a long lived shock, handling is a secondary concern. Any advice would be appreciated. Bill Shockley Tomahawk WI USA

If you were willing to modify the rear subframe on your bike, you likely could fit the ohlins or other shock made for the G/S. For whatever reason White Power is not as popular in North America, but very popular with the Germans and in the rest of Europe; haven't heard many complaints. Another option might be to try Works Performance. The specialize in costum sprung shocks and I would surprised if they could not come up with something that would fit your bike. Good reputation and rebuildable.
