V or RXP chain versus a VX chain
Long story short, I cut my VX chain too short, need about 1/4" to be able to fit the master link.
I am in central Florida and I can't find any 520 VX chain around, it would take something like a week to have it here. I had plan to slowly make my way up north (Montreal) starting this weekend. My question is; can I install a 520 V or even a 520 RXP on a Dakar? (that's all I can find right now) to get going, I have somewhere like 1500-1900 miles 'till I reach my destination. (not planning on doing any off-road for a while) my next destination after that is Paris. At the moment I am riding around with 2 master links on the chain which is apparently not recommended.

sprockets
Could you get hold of smaller front, or better, rear sprocket? If it's only a gnats too short a tooth or two should do it.
Then again, I'd probably carry on with the two split links........Just means you have two weak spots in your chain(but only one of them will be the weakest)
