Throttle lock
 

Anyone found a source for throttle locks on the new style 1200 adventure (its a 2006)???

Any tips or hints on a direction for this, greatly appreciated.

Do you mean a proper throttle lock (which are illegal in many countries)? I can't help you.
I did however just buy a plastic thingy which wraps around the throttle allowing the palm of the hand to do the work on long trips. Scott-oiler and Wunderlich both do versions of these. I haven't taken it on any long trips yet so i can't vouch for it, but you could get one for 10 or 15 dollars.

I imagine a ruddy great big rubber band or an O ring would do the job .
Slip it over the grip onto the body of the twistgrip .
Then when you want to utilise it you roll half of it onto the grip .
You can snap the throttle shut in an instant if you have to .

I like the one made by Kaoko for the 1200GS that can be found at http://www.adventurersworkshop.com. I would assume that it would work on the Adventure model as well.

I like it, except that it busted when I dropped my bike :( I'm hoping to get a free replacement when I get back from my Alaska trip.

Kaoko works perfectly on the GS Adv.1200.

I was originally thinking of electronic cruise control when they came available.... but this unit will do just fine.

An 'O-ring' works fine
 

I read a post in here about a year ago saying an O ring works, tried it and since have used nothing else. They are cheap, last a long time, are easy on and off and yet still provide manual override with almost no effort. All I need to do now is get a cpl more.

On the road in just three more days! We are so excited we could just... well ride for the next year and a half!

I agree with Sean, I bought a Scotoiler plastic thingy and its worked fine on my 1200GS for almost 60,000mls. Only problem is if you leave the moto outside, you have to reset it before riding off, kids seem only able to rotate it one way. Still, it stops them nicking the badges. (leave them, [the badges] at home or increase Touratech's profits and take them with you.)
