Spin-on filter mod.

I plan on purchasing, or most likely building some sort of spin-on oil filter modifacation for the ole' R100GS. Before i tackle this, thought i would ask all you old airheads out there to share some of your ideas. I've already done the Tourtech mod and moved the cooler to a safe spot. I'm thinking of placing some sort of screen in place of the original filter, as to not disrupt the flow of oil to the cooler. Then build a bracket and rig in a spin-on filter. Something compatable with most jap bikes would probably be the easiest to find in the world. Any thoughts?

Hi

Checkout www.motoren-israel.de Not sure if it's what you're looking for but they sell a kit for this.

Cheers

Why use throwaway filters at all? see http://www.scottsperformance.com/pro...php?PartType=3

2 points:
Spin-on oil filters require too much engine pressure to get the oil out of the cavity, then through a filter and back. And there have been all sorts of documented failures. Check airheads.org and sign up for list mail. Lots to learn there for airhead owners.

Grant: The steel filters don't look like they are the "bendy" type, meaning they require removal of crashbars or lower fairings etc. before you can get the filter out. 2-piece oil filters is where it's at:-)

Kevin, I wasn't suggesting them as a stock replacement, but for a spin on.

IF they were available in a bendy/oil cooler version I'd have one!

My mistake. Indeed, if they were bendy's in the stock type, I'd have one too. Still debating the option for air filters for my trip ..
