Short-circuit

My F-650 stops running whenever it rains. It seems obvious that the bike short circuits. Is this a common problem? I have to wait until it dries and then it runs perfect again.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Aah, you have an F650, ok, that helps. Year?

First the electrical:

The fuse box under the seat could be getting wet, check it. Also the wiring in the area. Check the sidestand switch, if possible disconnect it from the switch and connect the wires back together - i.e. bypass the switch. Another possibility is the kill switch. Take it off and have a look to see if there is water in there.

All of these will benefit from a spray with an electrical switch cleaner and waterproofer, which can be obtained from a good auto supply house. LPS3 is good, or they should be able to recommend something. WD-40 will do in a pinch, but doesn't work well for long and isn't a good lubricant.

Spray it on the switches, inside as best as possible, and on any electrical connectors under the "tank" and seat which are exposed. All spade type connectors should be disconnected and sprayed and reconnected. If there is any sign of corrosion, clean it off thoroughly and spray well. And try to protect those connectors better, perhaps with a little tape. Allow room for water to drain from any tape job you do!
