Sahara Tyres - anyone not hate them?

Hey People, how is it? Just fitted Saharas to the Dakar, cause I couldn't find Twinduros and was in a hurry. Does anyone have any positive experience of their off-road ability? Or are they as road-biased and er rubbish as they appear?
Cheers, Dan Walsh

Hi Dan

I used a set on my R100gs and did about 4500 miles on them London to Maroc. I found them ok, did alot of riding on the piste with them and had no punctures.

When you get into soft sand, thats where they start getting a bit shakey. Have used them in the mud too but didn't compare with TKC 80s, hardly any grip even on low pressure. Found them fine on tarmac would ride all day without any problems.

To be honest not a bad tyre within their limitations, Have still got them on the bike now, although the back has not got too much life in it. But will change back to TKC 80s as prefer them overall.

Cheers

Julio

Three thousand Mexican miles later I've answered my own questions - on road, they're terrific, really grippy, really stable, good in the wet. In light dirt, they're fine, but in sand they're kinda wobbly - and so am I. But better on the road than Contis, which tend to slide too easily when pushed.
